Function Name Explanation
5230 Annunciator
Keystrokes Built-in Touchpad
Clear Allows you to start again if you enter the wrong
keystrokes. If you enter a function incorrectly
on the 5230, the annunciators PZT buzzer will
emit a long, high-pitched tone
Clear Clear
System Test Causes the system to test the 4180 outputs,
the 7-segment LED display, bells, sirens, and
communicator

Reset Alarms After a smoke alarm has been triggered, this
function removes smoke detector power for
the programmed length of time (SMOKE VER.
TIME – step 25 in 5230 programming). This
allows the smoke detector to sense new alarm
conditions.

Clear Alarm Memory 1. Clears all data out of the alarm memory
2. Resets the 4180 Status Display Module

Display Alarm Memory Displays events currently saved in the alarm
memory. It is recommended that you clear the
alarm memory after displaying it (see CLEAR
ALARM MEMORY.)

Silence trouble or
alarm conditions
Silences bells/horns that are in trouble or
alarm. (On-board beeper and local

Fire Drill Causes the system to sound an alarm and
report a “FIRE TEST”

Disable/Enable Disables a zone (prevents it from responding
to an alarm condition) or reactivates a disabled
zone. When you disable a zone, a trouble buzzer
will sound.

Walk Test Allows you to test the system. When you enter
this mode, the LCD will indicate that you are in
the WALK TEST mode. When a zone is
violated the bell outputs will become active for
approximately 6 seconds

Programming mode Allows you to program 5204 options stored on
the EEPROM. Instructions for using mode 27
can be found in section 23.

Silencing the system To silence the on-board trouble tone, follow these steps
Disable the zone by pressing the zone number + Shunt (Or disable) + installer or MC
Reset the system by pressing 1 + Enter + installer or MC
The zone is now in trouble because of the disabled zone and can be silenced in the normal way by pressing Silence
Set Time To set the time, follow this procedure:
1. Press 9 + Enter. the 7-segment display will show -9, indicating that you are in the SET TIME mode.
2. Enter installer code. The SET MODE LED will turn on.
3. Enter the time in military time, using a string of 4-digits.
When you have pressed the fourth digit, the SET MODE LED will turn off.
EXAMPLE: To set the time of 3:30PM, press the following digits after entering
the SET TIME mode: 1530
